So You've Bought Item Upgrade ... Now What?

WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader

Upgrades can give you boost in certain stats. Each upgrade increases the level of an item by 3. Each upgrade also boosts a random substat.

The upgraded gear typically has a greater value for trade as long as it meets low requirements (like the FB shield of the sorc) or very high stat variation (like the eth titan weapons). These types of gear get less value from upgrading due to the requirement to roll for a perfect model.

Recycle Points

The item upgrader allows players to upgrade their gear by giving the currency to an NPC. Upgrades can be applied on any type of armor or weapons. However, the item used to upgrade will be consumed for the duration of time and will not be able to be used again. Upgrades can be applied to the enchantments.

The upgrader is located in all major cities, and can be accessed at any time to upgrade your gear. It is recommended to visit the upgrader every few weeks to keep your equipment up to date.

The cost of upgrading will be based on the current level of the equipment being upgraded however, they will always be less expensive than buying new gear from other sources. For example, upgrading a Benthic chest piece to 385 ilvl will cost 20 recycle points, while buying a similar item from another player will cost 105.

Valorstones

Upgrades are items that can be used for weapon, armor, tool, and accessory upgrades. They can be purchased through NPCs who sell upgrades to item owners in a variety of currencies. They can also find them in random treasure lists. Once an upgrade is purchased it can be applied to any weapon or tool using an button, which displays a preview of the item when it is upgraded in the event that the player has enough materials.

The cost of upgrades varies based on the item slot and the current item level as well as the level of the weapon, which is more than bracers or gloves, for example. Each step costs 15 Flightstones plus a certain number of crests. Some upgrades give discounts on Flightstones. Once an item is upgraded to a certain degree it is able to be degraded and sold back to the upgrader for a lesser amount of the two currencies.

Upgraders for items are available in many places on the main island and some outposts. The NPCs offer an upgrade coupon as well as the possibility of getting the latest recipe.  upgrade item  for upgrading increases as more items are upgraded. It can also be increased by having players finish certain achievements or quests.

Icewind Dale does not have an item upgrader at the beginning unlike Cromwell from Baldur's gate II. Instead the NPCs that can be used to upgrade must be acquired through several methods that are both an improvement and a drawback.

In Season 3, many new features have been added to the upgrade system. Once a player has upgraded to a specific level for an armor slot, upgrading other items to the same item level will cost less. This is even if the items are from another set of gear.

The amount of Valorstones needed to upgrade is reduced and the discount is affixed to all accounts. In the same way, the amount of Harbinger Crests required for upgrades is also reduced and is not available until players reach certain achievement milestones.

Crests

When upgrading gear in WoW players have a few options. They can make use of Flightstones which are a common upgrade currency that is available to all players, or crests, which are more specialized and are used to upgrade specific levels of the item. Crests are the main component of the Dragonflight gear progression system, which was introduced in 10.1 and are available in 4 ranks.

The first thing to remember is that crests are only able to be used to purchase equipment of a particular rank, and each rank has different requirements for its upgrade path. The simplest and simplest upgrade costs 15 crests. The most complicated upgrade can require up to 20 crests, depending on the kind of gear that is being upgraded.

Players can obtain crests by working through content that is of the appropriate level, whether that involves walking around and performing outdoor activities for gear of lower tiers, dungeons or raids of any difficulty for higher-tier items or Mythic+ dungeons or heroic raid bosses for gear that is used in the endgame. The crests can then be exchanged with an upgrader such as Cuzolth or Vaskarn in Valdrakken to upgrade the item in the proper steps and paths.

Using these new currencies isn't too complicated, but the system does introduce some modifications to the upgrade process. For instance, once a piece of equipment reaches the highest level of upgrading for any rank (Explorer, Adventurer, Veteran, Champion, Hero, or Mythic) it won't require Flightstones to be upgraded. This change lets players upgrade their equipment to the highest possible level on all their characters rather than relying on seasonal loot.

It's also crucial to choose crests with care, since they only have one use. It's best to use your Whelpling-rank Crests on the highest-quality gear you can find, and save Drake and Wyrm Crests to be used for the next set of upgrades. This is especially true for items such as rings and trinkets that occupy several slots. The account-wide discount is only applicable when all slots on the character are filled with high-quality gear.
